A hill is a landform that extends above the
surrounding terrain. It often has a distinct summit, although in areas with scarp/dip topography a hill may refer to a particular section of flat
terrain without a massive summit. Munnar is blessed with two beautiful hills.
ANAMUDI PEAK
Towering at an
elevation of 2,695 m, the Anamudi Peak is the highest peak along the Western
Ghats and also the highest point in South India. It is a thick forested hill
which is blessed with diverse blend of flora and fauna. It is a great delight
to all the nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and adventurous trekkers. Every
year numerous travelers come here for various trekking purposes.
Literally the meaning
of Anamudi is ‘Elephant’s head’ which perfectly suits the majestic look of the

valleys. It is rich in various kinds of flora and fauna. Several medicinal
herbs and plants like wintergreen, Anaphalis and Impatiens can be found in the
thick jungles of Anamudi. The hill is also opulent in several species of wild
animals like Nilgiri langurs, tigers, leopards, macaques, etc. The peak is also
the source of many rivers of Kerala and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.

Anamudi Peak is the

they have to take permission from the Eravikulam National Park authorities.

while trekking in Anamudi Peak.

Ayyappancovil on one side and Kamakshy and Mariyapuram villages on the other.
Kalvari Mount is situated at a distance of about 5 kms from Idukki and 50 kms
from Munnar Town.
