A hill is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain. It often has a distinct summit, although in areas  with scarp/dip topography a hill may refer to a particular section of flat terrain without a massive summit. Munnar is blessed with two beautiful hills.
ANAMUDI PEAK

Towering at an elevation of 2,695 m, the Anamudi Peak is the highest peak along the Western Ghats and also the highest point in South India. It is a thick forested hill which is blessed with diverse blend of flora and fauna. It is a great delight to all the nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and adventurous trekkers. Every year numerous travelers come here for various trekking purposes.

Literally the meaning of Anamudi is ‘Elephant’s head’ which perfectly suits the majestic look of the peak. The site has picturesque natural setting with beautiful slopes and valleys. It is rich in various kinds of flora and fauna. Several medicinal herbs and plants like wintergreen, Anaphalis and Impatiens can be found in the thick jungles of Anamudi. The hill is also opulent in several species of wild animals like Nilgiri langurs, tigers, leopards, macaques, etc. The peak is also the source of many rivers of Kerala and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. This tourist site is a true haven for wildlife enthusiasts who like to spot some of the unique and endangered animals living on earth.

Anamudi Peak is the perfect place to indulge in some thrilling trekking expeditions. The steep nature trails here are beautiful but very tough at the same time. It will be a great deal of challenge for the trekkers to walk through dense jungles and reach the top. However, such trekking excursions are always a pleasurable experience for the travelers as they get to come face to face with the amazing wonders of nature. Trekkers are allowed to go on foot to the Anamudi but prior to that they have to take permission from the Eravikulam National Park authorities. Many trekking facilities with necessary equipments are also provided by the authorities of the park. Camping in the tents is the best mode of accommodation while trekking in Anamudi Peak.
